Celebrate the Pakistan Day, an impressive flag hoisting ceremony
To celebrate the Pakistan Day, an impressive flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi this morning. In his remarks, High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood congratulated Pakistan nationals in India on this auspicious occasion. He stated that the creation of Pakistan within seven years of the passage of the historic 1940 Lahore Resolution reflected the wisdom and sagacity of our founding fathers. Under the visionary and inspiring leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, and with innumerable sacrifices of our forefathers, the idea of Pakistan was transformed into a concrete reality. Each successive generation had since contributed to the fulfillment of the Quaid’s vision of Pakistan as an economically strong, socially tolerant, democratic Islamic welfare state. This mission would continue until its fullest realization, he said. The High Commissioner highlighted Pakistan’s achievements in deepening democratic culture, accelerating economic development, and effectively addressing challenges related to extremism and terrorism through successful operations Zarb-e-Azb and Raad ul Fasaad. In the regional context, High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood underlined the importance of Pakistan’s vision of “peaceful neighbourhood.” He added that Pakistan desired peaceful and good-neighbourly relations with India on the basis of sovereign equality and mutual respect. It was important to resolve all outstanding issues, including the Jammu & Kashmir dispute, peacefully through dialogue. Peace was in the mutual interest of both countries and it could only be achieved through diplomacy and dialogue. Peace, security, stability and prosperity in South Asia could only be promoted on the principle of peaceful co-existence. Earlier, Deputy High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah read out messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Students of the Pakistan High Commission School sang Pakistan national songs and presented a tableau highlighting the struggle for the creation of Pakistan. At the end of the ceremony, Mrs. Mahwish Sohail, wife of the High Commissioner, distributed gifts among the students. ****
