50th Defence Day of Pakistan observed in PHC Delhi

High Commission for Pakistan New Delhi … Press Release No. 17/2015-PR September 06, 2015 The 50th Defence Day of Pakistan was observed at the Pakistan High Commission, today (Sunday) with zeal and fervor to pay homage and tributes to the martyrs, who rendered the supreme sacrifice in the defence of the motherland in the 1965 war. In this regard, special prayers were also offered for the solidarity, integrity and prosperity of the nation. Speaking on the occasion High Commissioner Abdul Basit said that the 1965 war was a testament of our unflinching national resolve to protect our motherland against foreign aggression. Our armed forces demonstrated unparalleled valour and fought with unmatched resolve, patriotism and the love for martyrdom. The High Commissioner said that Pakistan was a peace-loving country. Our security calculus was therefore based on defence doctrines. The High Commissioner further said ´ We do not have aggressive designs against any country but we, as a nation, are determined to protect every inch of our country; every Pakistani is ready to render any sacrifice in this regard.´ Brigadier Saqib Mehmood Mailk, Defense and Army Adviser at the High Commission also spoke on the importance of the day. A documentary on the sacrifices and achievements of Pakistan Armed Forces in the 1965 War was also screened. On the occasion, students of the Pakistan High Commission School also presented a colourful program based on national songs and a tableau.
