PRESS RELEASE Delhi School Students visit Pakistan High Commission No.9/2014-PR April 28, 2014 A group of 30 students from three schools of Delhi accompanied by their principals and teachers visited the High Commission for Pakistan New Delhi today. These students are participants of the ongoing “Exchange for Change” programme 2013-2015 between Indian and Pakistani schools to promote mutual understanding and harmony between the two peoples. 2. High Commissioner Abdul Basit, while welcoming the students said that such exchanges between the youth of the two countries was important for the future of peace and stability between the two countries. The High Commissioner said that India and Pakistan were two major South Asian countries with immense potential and resources and we needed to work jointly towards overcoming the challenges such as hunger, poverty, illiteracy and disease. The High Commissioner outlined that students should acquire the ability to shun stereotypes and look at things around them more objectively. 3. The students were also shown a documentary on Pakistan’s land, culture and people. The students of Indian schools were impressed by the building of Pakistan High Commission which is a blend of tradition and modernity. 4. Following the remarks of the High Commissioner, the students also exchanged views in an interactive session. 5. Mr. Rakesh Gupta, Director of Routes 2 Roots thanked the High Commissioner for inviting Indian students to the High Commission and extending them a very warm hospitality. 6. Routes 2 Roots, India and Citizens Archives, Pakistan steer “Exchange for Change” programme between the schools of India and Pakistan. Under this programme, students from selected schools undertake visits to each other’s countries, interact with students and visit different places and institutions.
