High Commission for Pakistan New Delhi … No. 19/2015-PR September 10, 2015 Press Release “Shan-e-Pakistan”, fashion and lifestyle exhibition was inaugurated by High Commissioner for Pakistan Abdul Basit at the Pakistan High Commission this evening. The inauguration under the name of “Ek Sham Pakistan Ke Naam” was attended by over 400 guests from all walks of life in India. The evening was filled with the enchanting Sufi music by renowned Amjad Sabri Qawal and the delicious food prepared by well-known Pakistani chefs Gulzar and Zakir. Speaking on the occasion, Pakistani fashion designer and organizer of the event, Ms. Huma Nassr said that the “Shan-e-Pakistan” Exhibition was aimed at showcasing top brands of Pakistan fashion industry. She said the event would also provide an opportunity to the designers of Pakistan and India to share the stage and exchange ideas for joint ventures. She expressed the hope that her initiative would help open up new vistas of bilateral cooperation, injecting positivity into the bilateral relationship. She thanked High Commissioner Abdul Basit an his team for extending full support and facilitation to hold the event. High Commissioner Abdul Basit in his remarks appreciated Ms. Huma Nassr for her initiative stressing that such initiatives were a beacon of hope for better ties between Pakistan and India. He said Huma Nassr epitomized what Pakistani women had been achieving in their respective professions. He said Pakistan was a cradle of world’s oldest civilizations, and a country with a rich and diverse cultural heritage. Pakistan was now confidently moving forward. It was just a matter of time that Pakistan would become a regional economic hub to the benefit of not only the people of Pakistan but the entire region. The High Commissioner expressed the hope that Pakistan and India would be able to settle their disputes through dialogue to usher in a new era of peace and development in their mutual interest.
