Sir Syed´s Bicentenary Celebrations
Commemorative Stamp issued on occasion of Sir Syed´s bicentenary celebrations As part of bi-centenary celebrations of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, the Government of Pakistan has issued a commemorative postage stamp. Issued by Pakistan Post on 17 October 2017, marking the 200th birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, the stamp is a tribute to the vision of this illustrious writer, educationist and social reformer. His emphasis on modern scientific education and founding of the Mohammadan Anglo- Oriental (MAO) College, which later became the Aligarh Muslim University, were deeply empowering and socially and politically far-reaching. Sir Syed is remembered among the pioneers of freedom.
