HC Abdul Basit hosted an Iftar-cum-Dinner
High Commissioner Abdul Basit hosted an Iftar cum dinner last evening at the High Commission. A large number of guests, including Kashmiris, graced the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the High Commissioner dilated, among other things, on the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute for a viable peace and stability in the region. He said the meeting between the Prime Ministers of Pakistan and India in New Delhi on 27 May had provided a rare opportunity to get the bilateral dialogue process back on track and address all the bilateral disputes on the basis of mutual respect and mutual interest. He underlined that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif´s vision of security for development and development for security, which encompassed bilateral, regional, and international dimensions was the best way forward. Jama Masjid Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Shah Bukhari led the Maghrib prayer. A collective prayer was made for peace around the world, especially for the oppressed people living under foreign occupation. The guests were served with traditional Pakistani cuisine.
