Pakistani High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit called on Chief Minister of Assam Mr. Tarun Gogoi on 6th feb 2016 at his residence and discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest. Abdul Basit also invited Chief Minister Gogoi to visit Pakistan which Gogoi accepted in principle. While acknowledging Gogoi’s hospitality as heart-warming, the Pak High Commissioner emphasised on the need of both India and Pakistan should live in harmony. He also stressed that the process of Bilateral engagements in the form of Comprehensive Dialogue must continue to ensure peace in the region. Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit also appreciated the law and order situation of Assam and the arrangement and facilities put in place for the 12th South Asian Games being held in Guwahati.
